FUR-GET-ME-KNOT CANINE MASSAGE

Dogs welcomed to class!

Canine massage has multiple benefits for a pet’s well-being.

It can:

  • Improve circulation
  • Improve digestion
  • Improve respiration
  • Improve relaxation
  • Increase range of motion and flexibility
  • Increase nutrient absorption
  • Promote restorative sleep
  • Reduce pain
  • Reduce muscle knots and spasms
  • Provide healthy physical and psychological well-being

Canine massage is beneficial for:

  • General health and well-being
  • Senior and special needs dogs
  • Working, competitive, and athletic dogs
  • Dogs that are recovering and healing from post-surgery
  • Dogs with Chronic musculoskeletal problems

Observing your dog’s response to touches will provide you with valuable information as to what areas of your dog’s body may need special attention, as well as what they like and don’t like. Canine massage is a great way of strengthening your connection with your dog. Included, you will learn how to do the Pet Tech Snout-To-Tail™ wellness assessment, as well as the contraindications for canine massage.

If your pet has a chronic or acute injury or illness and/or is recovering from injury, we ask that you speak to your veterinarian first and receive a letter of approval to attend.

There are 3 options for the canine massage workshop:
1. Community Workshops
2. Private Group Workshops
3. Private Individual Sessions

Rules and guidelines for dog attendance:
If a dog is reactive or is deemed, by the instructor and/or class members, as potentially at risk to other participants (dog and human), we may ask the dog owner/parent to leave the class. The credit can be used toward another community class or class option, however, the dog will not be able to attend another group class. The dog owner/parent may choose to attend class without a dog for practice. Reactive dogs are under stress and we do not want to aggravate this symptom. We not only want to protect the well-being of other class participants, but also the well-being of the reactive dog. In these cases, we highly recommend the individual class option.

PET TECH PET CPR & FIRST AID

This workshop is appropriate for pet lovers ages 16+.
Workshop is 5 hours long.
Upon completion, participants will be given a 2 year training certificate,
Pet Tech web emblem, and will be placed on the Pet Tech international database.

Many pet emergencies occur outside and even far from a veterinarian’s office.
And usually the first person on the scene is you…
So, would you know what to do if your pet was in a medical crisis situation?

According to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), 92% of dogs and cats will experience an emergency in their lifetime, and 1 out of 4 pets would survive if just one pet first aid technique was applied prior to getting emergency veterinary care.

Pet first aid is the immediate care given to a pet that is suddenly ill or injured until it can be transported to a veterinarian for medical attention. Knowing these skills and techniques can make a difference between life and death—giving your pet a fighting chance to survive.

You will learn:

  • How to conduct a primary assessment in an emergency situation
  • How to safely restrain and muzzle an ill or injured pet
  • The skills of canine and feline CPR and rescue breathing
  • How to manage choking, bleeding, and shock incidents
  • Heat and cold injury protocols
  • Action steps for insect bites, stings, and snake bites
  • The daily Snout-To-Tail™ wellness assessment to gauge your pet’s health vitals
  • How to prepare a pet first aid kit
  • How to improve communication with your vet, pet care professionals, pet parents, and community
  • And much more!

Pet CPR & First Aid For TEAMS:
This special 6 hour long workshop includes the Pet Tech Pet CPR & First Aid curriculum and adds in team emergency planning. This will help prepare your staff to handle emergencies within your organization and/or facility by discussing and developing a team emergency plan.  Please contact Yvonne Banzali at [email protected] or call 323-744-0210 for more details.

Please leave pets at home:
As much as we love our pets, dogs and cats are not allowed to attend this class. Instead, class participants will be practicing on dog or cat models. Please do not practice on a live animal if they are not in a medical emergency crisis.

CEUs:
Please contact DOG+MANITIES to verify if PET TECH is listed as a CEU provider. If not, Pet Tech can provide curriculum information to your credentialing agency for CEU approval.

Workshop Cancellation Policy:

We understand that life can throw you a curve ball here and there. So,  if you are unable to make it, please contact us at least 24 hours prior to the class OR within 5 days after the class date. You can choose between the following options…
1. Reschedule Your Class–We will send you a list of future class dates to choose from.
2. Request a Refund–You can request a refund for a missed class less 10% for administrative fees.

Phone:   323-744-0210
Email: [email protected]

Please take into consideration that some classes are held as benefits for various non-profit organizations, so last minute cancellations or no shows prevent filling that seat by another interested participant, especially for workshops with a limited seating capacity.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness regarding this matter!

If you’ve signed up for a workshop/program/special event through a third party provider (i.e. City of South Pasadena), you will need to contact that provider directly regarding their refund/transfer policy.
